have you seen the additions to the MOT starting in 2011 although it might not effect bikes as much as cars but HID headlamps are now illegal if retro fitted so if it wasnt standard on the vehicle from new its a MOT fail about time to as them things are blinding when its coming towards you, as the standard stock fitted HID have self leveling systems to stop dazzle.
And and vehicle that has been chipped is a MOT fail aswell, so they are now connecting to the ecu port on the vehicle and it must be the standard stock chip fitted..theres going to be a lot of very peeved subaru owners out there failing there MOT's

If the headlights are adjusted properly they should not blind the oncoming traffic. But I bet in your case the traffic runs in the opposite lanes that we do in the US. So if the headlights are designed to throw the light off to the right, it would go into the oncoming traffic. Interesting problem if you want to upgrade your headlights for night driving in the UK.

The WRX owners would flip if they tried to do that over here (at least in the midwest). I don't think those make it out of the dealers driveway without getting a new chip.

MN, the light fixtures in the UK aim the light in the opposite direction than in the US. The headlight is one of the items that have to be changed if importing a vehicle from the US to the UK or vice-versa.

The easy way around the use of retro-fit HID lights is to use 4300*K lamps so the color is correct and change to the original quartz lamp before the inspection. Simply retain your original wiring intact using the

I'm VERY thankful we don't have a national inspection system like the MOT scam in Great Britain.

Too true. Whenever I see some car coming up behind me weaving in and out, with lights blazing, it's always some r-sole in a German car or a Subaru.
