I didn't read the description, but is $2700 really out of line? If it is mechanically as nice as it looks, thats probably pretty fair.

It's going to need all the standard stuff; I think those are even the original tires (not a selling point.)

So yeah, it's a tad high but it's been bid up to that and there isn't an insane reserve on it so let's see what it goes for.

After putting over $6000 into totally restoring my XJ550 I think that this bike is worth every bit of $2700.

The price may be fair for that specific bike but I would never pay that much money for any vehicle I haven't even tested on the road myself.

nice looking bike. looks like someone swooped in with 7 seconds to go and picked it up for a paltry $3050.00. personally I would get something a little newer if I was going to spend that much.

    My thoughts exactly!

It's a beautiful bike, but I don't think I'd pay more than $2k for it. Especially since it still requires another $600 or so to make it safe!

For $3500, I'd get a real nice touring bike like a older FJ, FJR or Venture!

I wouldn't pay that much for an older Venture. Huh.....thinking about it---- I DIDN'T pay that much for an older Venture. I got mine for just over $2K. I've seen other X's go up like this auction did, and I've seen some other 83's get that high and higher, too........

It's also a very low serial number......... probably the lowest serial for an X that I've seen yet---- I BELIEVE that is the 72nd one made.

#137 (From the MicaPeak Registry) is the lowest I've seen for the 85 X models .

The price paid is a bit high, but it's unmolested. What that means is, the buyer will have to go through the bike and perform all the safety and maintenance items. More money than I would spend, but definitely a gem.

On the plus side for us X owners, it helps boost values on the nice examples.

And just for reference, I sold my 11K mile 700X locally a couple of years ago for $2900. Here's the video prior to the sale.

That bike just raised the bar for all of us; all of our XJs just became worth slightly more.
