no spark from coils

    I have an 82 xj650j maxim I have power to the coils but not out of the coils any thoughts?

    Do you mean no spark? If so, how are you checking? You should check one plug at a time while all the others are connected and installed to complete the series current path of the wasted spark system. 1 and 4 form one series circuit with the secondary of the ignition coil. 2 and 3 form another series circuit with the other ignition coil secondary.

    Do you have a DMM to check out the secondary resistance of the coils and the caps?

    Does the bike crank but not start and that is why you posted the question?

    HT's maybe? Unscrew the ht caps and lope 1/4" off the end of the coil wires. Replace the caps w/o stripping. Two of the ht's have slotted resistor plugs inside them (the other two are stationary). Snug the plugs. Re-do the test. The caps may have bad resistors. Hope this help.
