Hey guys...I have a 82 550 maxim that I am having a spark issue with...When I start my bike it fires right up and screams like it should.. But about 2 miles down the road I lose spark and it stops running so I pull over, cut of the key then cut it right back on and the bike starts and I'm good for the rest of the day unless I let it sit for a couple hours then it will do it again...I'm very new at this so if anyone out there has any ideas why a bike would do this or could direct me to a forum about this would be great..Ive searched and I can't seem to find any with the same issue but I am new at this.. Any help would be super great...Thanks guys

Does everything else stay on when this happens. Obviously it sound electrical, but there aren't many places in the circuit where it would click on and off with the ignition switch.

In fact it sounds like it will be either a dodgy fuse or a dodgy ignition switch.

If you're somewhere quiet when it happens you could jiggle the ignition key and see if it cuts in again, otherwise I'd start with cleaning and inspecting the fuse box (actually - and the kill switch) and if that doesn't show a problem, see if you have a spare block connector that matches the one from the ignition switch to make a by-pass that bypasses any problems.

If that doesn't fidn a problem, then you'll just have to look for problems systematically with a multimeter, but if it's an intermittent fault that could be a nightmare.
