I know this is a little off topic that is why I put it here. Anyway I bought a couple of scooters from an auction last night and I would like to put at least one of them on the road. The problem is they were sold with out title. We have a 17 year old girl staying with us, her mom passed away a couple of years ago and she has been shuffled between relatives, she will be 18 in a couple of months and can get her drivers license. One of these scooters would make her some cheap transportation. How can I get a title I have no information other than the name of the person that brought them to auction. I am sure he has never had one either.
    Thanks
    Marty

I know in some states you can apply for lost title. It takes a few months to go through however you stand the risk of having a stolen bike and I don't meen to scare you but you can be held accountable. I did it with an antique truck and had no problem. Check with your DMV. Good luck.

Not sure what a "bonded title" is exactly, but it may be an option.

your local state police can usually get you pointed in the right direction
or your state senator or representative's office can sometimes shred the
red tape, but mostly in election years

You just became wedged in between a Rock and a Hard Place.

I would say, that if these scooters are large enough displacements to be subject to DMV Rules and Regs ...

That ... minimum -- you'll need "Salvage Titles" for both VIN's.
Then, you have to have the one you want to get -- Titled and Registered -- INSPECTED by a Governing Authority for Not Stolen and Road Worthiness. Get the "Salvage Title" transferred to a Genuine Title ...

    All downhill from there.

Depending on the year of the scoot. As long as you have a bill of sale a title company can get one for you for a fee. I think it is 75.00. I know I read that somewhere. Do a search on vehicle title companies. Found it.
http://www.its-titles.com/ I have never done this but it is worth a phone call. Hope this helps
