Hi folks.... I'm quite sunburned, although it wasn't too hot today - the UV rays still got through to us - even when we had cloud-over.

We had a full day of tuning... With the following attendees & bikes (if I remember everyone' names & bikes correctly)

First to show up was Lee Carpenter of Rowlett, Texas on his '85 XJ700 Maxim; Then Jeff Covington from Vicksburg, Mississippi on his 750 Maxim, and Tony Pietrzykowski made it in on his '82 550 Maxim from Granbury, Texas. Also in this morning were Dell Klotz from Houston on his XJ1100 Maxim, Michael Myers on his '81 Seca, and we were also graced with the presence of our very own DeOne, DeOnly, Dewayne Blanco on his Kawa. Concourse - from Lafayette, Louisiana, as well as his buddy Tom Wyble on his '82 Seca (that used to belong to Dewayne). And my youngest daughter, Robin, assisted with getting our lunch prepared.

So - that's 8 attendees - hopefully you ALL rode away with some great donations by the SeaFoam Corporation!! - as well as a better running bike. I know there were others who had planned to try to make it - and other things prevented them from making it - but know that those of you who were not able to make it - were missed (and probably talked about!) Folks were here - who had heard about the carb clinic from any of several venues.. There's the MicaPeak XJ-Owners email list, the various XJ-based Yahoo Groups, as well as XJBikes.com were all represented in attendance.

Jeffrey - in his take-charge fashion took each bike into his capable hands to either ColorTune and synch - or to assist the bike owners with their own ColorTune & synch. Word from everyone(*) was that their bikes were performing better when they left, then when they arrived! So a fantastic day for our attendees. I've gotta say - I've never seen a tank/fuel setup quite like what's on the XJ1100... 4 individual fuel lines to the 4 carbs.. actuated off a manifold by the engine vacuum. Quite an intricate "octopus" of tubing! Jeffrey figured out where his "squeaking" was coming from, and fixed that.... rather easily - with a rubber nipple... We also had a special presentation on various places to hide a spare key on our bikes. (coming to light obviously by Gary S.'s most recent international "mishap")

I'll post a link early next week with the pictures I was able to take.

(*)BTW - There was only one bike that will require more work to get into acceptable riding shape.. and luckily that bike belongs in *my* driveway, anyway... Yep - mine... I'll post later on to the MicaPeak XJ email list what's going on with it, and poll for suggestions... Let's just say - there's a reason my bike was last to be looked at... I knew it would need some long-term TLC.

Thanks so much to Rex for hosting this years carb clinic. I had a great time and now have a much better running bike ! :D Also a special thanks to Jeff Covington for his technical expertise (Jeff, sorry I called you Rick, I must have had my ear plugs in when we met).

I'd like to extend many thanks to Rex for hosting this years Carb Clinic and managing to wrangle some great stuff from Seafoam. And yeah, like Rex i got the sunburn too. Hope you get your own bike up and running soon.

Big thanks to Jeff for doing a majority of the carb tuning on just about everyone's bike. I'll have to say my bike is running better than it ever has before. Gas mileage on the way home and today on my ride to work has greatly increased also.

This was my first clinic and basically first outing with other XJ owners and i'll have to say it was very nice meeting all of you and seeing the various other XJ models.

I haven't even started looking at the calendar for next year's NTCC, but I do have a potential location at a local shop being lined up with a friend who has a bike shop.

There's also rumor of an upcoming Cajun Carb Clinic in LaFayette, La. - and when I receive more info on it, I'll post it.

    Thanks,
    Rex S.

The photos are amazing! I like the tool cart with the sea foam and the Dr. pepper side by side. Wish travel wasn't an issue to get to this.

Ya know.. I see that you're in Philly... in early August, there's a Lehigh Valley Carb Clinic - held in/near Coopersburg, Pa., and the NorthEast Pennsylvania Carb Clinic in Early June near Scranton, Pa.
