I inherited an 82 xj650 from my brother who briefly had it running and then decided to take it all apart and leave it in boxes. I put it all back together, wired it, and plugged the battery in but when I go to turn it on it doesn't show any indication that its getting any power. The neutral light doesn't come on and the start button doesn't do anything, is there something obvious that I'm overlooking? I haven't put on the turn signals, taillight, or tach cable by any chance are there sensors in there that wouldn't make it run?

Select your bike and print out the diagram.

From memory, my XJ600 kill switch would give the symptoms you describe. Does anything else work? lights/horn?

The old Yamaha fuse box (if still fitted) is also a source of trouble!

How old is the battery? Did you test it after you charge it? Was it fully charged?

Apopka sounds close enough to take a look if needed,

Start at the battery and work your way thru, finding voltage at the fuse, ignition switch, etc. Corrosion is your enemy, and a bit of fine sandpaper and emery board may be needed.

Start circuit diagnostic, once you get things powered-up

    Good luck with it !
