Ok, I have been driving my bike for a week now. I just took it for inspection, failed ... need front brake shoes ... anyways my bike died 4 times on the way home ... not getting enough fuel, first i though it was dirty air filter but that didn't work, finally check for water in carbs ... none, put the gas on PR, and it ran ok, then put in on RES, but in nuetral when you rev the engine up around 4500 - 5000 it start to ... sputter a bit. Anyways finally got the bike home ... not sure what to do now.

Sounds like you have a bad or sticky diaphram in your petcock or a bad vacuum line running to your petcock since when you switch to PRI it seemed to run better. I would remove the tank, drain the gas, and remove the petcock. Carefully dissassemble it and see if it is sticky inside. While you are at it, you might as well replace the vacuum tube running from the #3 intake boot just in case it is bad.

There is a vacuum operated valve in your petcock which uses the vacuum of the engine to open it via a diaphram. This feature prevents emptying your gas tank into your engine (or airbox) in the event that you get a bad float valve in a carburetor. There is a prime feature (PRI) which allows fuel to flow without a vacuum signal so you can fill the carburetor bowls in order to start the engine for the first time with dry carbs.

    2. ran out again
    3. started to sputter so before i broke down i got a fuel filter had to get one from the autozone but whatever it fits
4 ran out gas again and changed the fuel filter
    ran great
added oil ( i diddnt see any in the little window
after i figured out i almost killed the bike with to much oil i tried to drain it by removing the oil filter
    big mess
    got gas treatment
the neihbor guy came over and took it for a run around and said the carbs need cleaned
actually EVERYTHING needs to be cleaned i have yet to mention the brake story about the pin hole......
so he said carb cleaner and drive it around
    i did
diddnt work need to clean it
i know i know it runs but...
you will need to clean just like me sooner or later

If the carbs haven't been cleaned in a while that would be a good start you can inspect everything then and weed out the possibilities. There is alot of threads to help you along with anything you need to find out.
