    Hi
    Looking for replacements for the filter housing oring and the oil filter bolt oring for an 81 xj650 maxim. I am sure it is in the forums somewhere but cant find it.

    Does anyone know of a good place to get these items?
    Thanks
    Steve

    You can get the o-rings if you buy an oil filter. I know the Wix brand oil filter comes with 'em.

    The Wix number for this filter is 24934. CARQUEST and NAPA should be able to hook you up.

    Fram filters have them too. I know that Hi-Flo doesn't.

    The Fram Filter with the two free O-rings is 5-Bucks.

    The Large O-ring from the Dealer is twice the Price with NO Filter.

    I Vote for the Fram Package. The O-rings fit ~~> Perfectly!

    I've got 'em all:

    Original Yamaha Oil Filtration System Parts:

    m7) OEM Paper Element Oil Filters, original Yamaha supplier. Does NOT include the HCP281 filter grommets or any of the o-rings.

    HCP695 OEM Yamaha Oil Filter Element fits XJ550/650/700/750/900:
    $ 7.50

    HCP697 OEM Yamaha Oil Filter Element fits XJ1100:
    $ 7.50

    n7) Aftermarket FRAM Paper Element Oil Filters. Include the filter grommets, housing o-ring, and bypass bolt o-ring.

    HCP1650 FRAM Paper Oil Filter Element fits XJ550/650/700/750/900:
    $ 7.00

    HCP1651 FRAM Paper Oil Filter Element fits XJ1100:
    $ 7.95

    COMMENTARY: many people have read reviews or seen comments to the effect that "Fram oil filters are junk, etc.". While this claim may or may not be true in regards to their automotive line of can filters, this may not apply to their motorcylce line of filters (which I've used for years on my bikes). There is really nothing in the world that could be simpler than a motorcylce filter for these Yamaha's. If it is a concern to you, then of course order an OEM filter or the K&N filter, they're all so cheap that it hardly makes an economic difference one way or the other, but just thought you'd like to know!

    p7) Aftermarket K&N Performance Gold Synthetic Element Oil Filters. Includes the filter grommets but neither the housing nor the bypass bolt o-rings.

    HCP1652 K&N Paper Oil Filter Element fits XJ550/650/700/750/900:
    $ 6.00

    HCP1653 K&N Paper Oil Filter Element fits XJ1100:
    $ 7.95

    q7) OEM Yamaha oil filter element rubber Grommet, use 2 per filter.

    HCP281 oil filter element Grommet, fits XJ550/650/700/750/900 models.
    $ 3.00 each

    HCP281SET2 oil filter element Grommet, fits XJ550/650/700/750/900 models.
    $ 5.50 pair

    r7) OEM O-Ring for oil filter housing-to-block.....the big round one on the filter housing and on the adapter plate (for factory oil-cooler equipped models). Correct sized oil- and heat-resistant ring perfectly replaces the original. Not a bad idea to replace these once a year.........

    HCP1488 oil filter housing O-Ring, for XJ550/650/700/750/900 models:
    $ 4.50

    HCP282 oil filter housing O-Ring, for XJ1100 models:
    $ 6.25

    bb) Aftermarket O-Ring for oil filter housing-to-block.....the big round one on the filter housing and on the adapter plate (for factory oil-cooler equipped models). Correct sized oil- and heat-resistant ring perfectly replaces the original. Not a bad idea to replace these once a year.........

    HCP2283 oil filter housing O-Ring, for XJ550/650/700/750/900 models:
    $ 3.50

    cc) O-Ring for oil filter bypass valve/mounting bolt.....the bolt that holds the oil filter housing to the block (for standard AND factory oil-cooler equipped models). Correct sized oil- and heat-resistant ring perfectly replaces the original on all 550/650/700/750/900 models. Not a bad idea to replace these once a year.........

    HCP1496 OEM oil filter bolt O-Ring:
    $ 2.00

    HCP2279 aftermarket oil filter bolt O-Ring:
    $ 1.50

    dd) Oil Filter Bypass Valve/Mounting Bolt .....the bolt that holds the oil filter housing to the block (for standard AND factory oil-cooler equipped models). Correct replacement machined steel bolt and bypass assembly correctly replaces the original on all 550/650/700/750 models. Comes with the o-ring. Has the large 17mm hex head (rather than the factory 12mm hex head) so you won't strip it off as easily as the stock bolt. Not a bad idea to replace these once in a while.........

    PLEASE!: always use anti-sieze compound on the threads when installing this bolt!

    HCP270 Replacement Oil Filter Bypass Valve-Mounting Bolt, 17mm head:
    $ 12.95

    ee) Oil Filter Bypass Valve/Mounting Bolt .....the bolt that holds the oil filter housing to the block (for standard AND factory oil-cooler equipped models). Original Yamaha machined steel bolt and bypass assembly correctly replaces the original on all 550/650/700/750 models. Comes with the o-ring. Has the smaller 12mm hex head. Not a bad idea to replace these once in a while.........

    PLEASE!: always use anti-sieze compound on the threads when installing this bolt!

    HCP1067 OEM Oil Filter Bypass Valve-Mounting Bolt, 12mm head:
    $ 29.95

    ON the bolt, in the groove.

    Once you put the bolt into the housing, it will line up with being inside the hole through the casting.
