The O-rings you need come with some aftermarket Oil Filters, most notably the FRAM Brand.

You can look for a used housing on eBay or get yourself a new one from online Parts Suppliers or the sites resident purveyor of XJ Parts.

emgo is a perfectly acceptable aftermarket "generic" brand name. Been around FOREVER. Nothing wrong with Fram either, both of these cheaper than Mama Yama...ha.

I'm gonna say it again, invest the funds on a spin on oil filter kit. you'll never have those problems again. Best money I've spent on my bike aside from new tires.

You will find the spin-on oil filter kit offered at the top of the page in the XJ Chat Forum. It's nestled in there with the YICS tool offering.
I have a few o-ring kits for filters that I would gladly sell. PM me with your address and I'll shoot you my PayPal address.

What Company manufacturers the Spin-on Oil Filter Adapter?

Has there been ANY Testing done to determine if the Adapter is a suitable option for use on the XJ-Series Bikes?

How do you know that Specified Oil Pressures are maintained by the Adapter and Filter?

i don't know who makes theirs but i made mine in the garage
nope,no testing but it's been on there two years so it must be close
i don't, see above, what should the oil pressure be and how could i test it ?

LOTS of "in the field" usage, and no known problems. The replacement stud uses the same ID as the original bypass valve, so it should flow the same volume of oil, and thus no pressure difference. The adapter PLATE has a great number of small holes for the oil flow, and the total area of those holes is greater than the oil passage hole in the threaded stud, so that area should also not cause a loss of volume, nor a pressure issue.

I cannot speak for the filters, but again, given the size/surface area of a can filter versus the stock paper filter and housing, there should not be an issue (besides more/better filtration!).

In reality, it seems that HIGHER pressures would be the concern, as a restriction (smaller passage size) would result in lower volume and thus higher pressures. However, within a "closed" fluid system, it's the smallest passage that would lead to any volume restriction (and attendant higher pressure condition), and these adapter kits are definetly not the small passage in the XJ engine oiling system. FOr example, the size of the passages in the factory oil coolers are much smaller in cross-sectional area than anything within the spin-on plate or can filters.

Again, I do not believe that is going to be an issue with the spin on kits that either I or Injuhneer manufacturers and sells.
