oil cooler hoses detachable?

    hey are the soft oil cooler lines detachable? mine ary very dirty and worn and i would like to replace them, just curious if i can simply thread them off?

    for the looks u know

    I'm speaking generally here, since the USA-market XJ750R didn't come with an oil cooler. However, the FJ600 did, and some other early fours of the same configuration.

    If yours follows Yamaha practice, the soft part of the lines are "staked on" to small, solid "stub" lines that bolt to the flange at the bottom, and have compression fittings at the top that screw onto the oil cooler.

    They would need to be cut away, and new lines either clamped or re-staked onto those little, proprietary stubs. You might see if there is a Pirtek (or similar truck-hose service) jobber in your area that could "stomp" some new lines onto the stubs for you. That would provide the most factory-looking installation.

    thanks fitz. i thought of the same thing, there is a hydraulics shop nearby..

    i may need to consider my budget though
