Will the oil light sometimes come on if it is cold outside? Last week I had my oil light stay on after starting the bike on a cold (2C) night. After checking the obvious things I shut the bike off and the light went out.
No the starter switch was not stuck. I checked. A few other times the light has come on including going on /off while I was going up/down hill.

Oil level seems fine. ( I'm due for a change but I have been waiting since it is about that time.

The last few days have been warmer and no oil light.

    Whats up?

    Yep.

If the oil is cool ... it takes its sweet time finding its way through unheated scavange passages ... and, clings to the cool surfaces, everywhere ... causing the level in the sump to drop enough to activate the warning sensor and on goes the light.

Virago was famous for this scary scenario.
