So, I picked up another patient last night. It's a 1981 1100, I think it's an XS and not a Maxim, but I will figure that out for sure later. It's got a king and queen seat, Vetter fairing, and a full set of hard bags.

The bike starts and runs, but the previous owner reports it has "no power". I'm thinking either it's his carburetor cleaning being insufficient, or a fuel flow issue. The tank is Kreemed, and the coating looks to be bubbling and flaking. I am wondering if there are loose chunks of it clogging something.

Also, as we tried to load it, the front brakes locked. I loosened them with a screwdriver, and I bet calipers need a rebuild. I'm also pretty sure valves haven't been checked in a while. Cosmetically, it looks good.

So, it's a fixer-upper, but I figured $600 for a bike with a full touring package isn't bad. Pictures will happen when I get it out of the trailer.

Edited to add: The VIN starts with 4R1, which makes it an XS1100H.

OOo you have a choice. You can go touring, or you can go classic drag racing. Decisions, decisions.

I think I'll stick with touring on this one. I'd hate to hack up this one, it's too nice.

Nice score, Pag! Definitely post a pic!

I wouldn't mind finding an 1100 as well..........(then I'd have one of every size, along with one of every Seca!)

400 - seca, sold the special
550 - seca, sold the maxim
650 - seca, turbo seca, maxim
    700 - maxim, X
    900 - seca
    1100 - still waiting.....lol
