I realized I put the original topic in the wrong Forum.

I have an opportunity to repaint my tank finally. I wanted to see what your opinions were. I have an '81 XJ550 with the factory black paint job. What custom work have you done? Do you have pictures?

Do you prefer the factory look? What were the factory paint options? Thanks for your advice.

hard to go wrong with black tank with gold scallops. Maybe a fine red outline on the scallops too.

I stuck with black but had some I guess tribal flames done in some pearls. Had them wrap around some newer Vmax badges on the tank. Same paint on the fenders, covered the beat up chrome. Yes I have pictures.

I had thought about go original factory look but then some off black flames. From a distance it would look factory and when you got closer it would be noticable. Those are plans. I have actually accomplish it.
