Set the #1 Piston to Top Dead Center on the Compression Stroke.
(Check the Indicator on the Ignition Rotor)

    Look at the Cams.
The Cams are Stamped INtake and EXhaust.
Make sure they are where they belong.

    If they are.
There are Marks on the Cams ... Near the Center of the Engine ... Where the Cam is Located under the Non-bearing - Thrust Bridge.
The Marks should be ALL Lined-up Perfectly.

(And should return to the Perfect positions after the Engine is rotated 4 Revolutions bring the Number 1 back to the Top TDC Compression Stroke.

    Don't rely on the Pointer.
Look in the Plug Hole and visually check for the crown of number 1
Use and appropriate tool to touch the Piston Crown and Insure TDC.
