well I just took the diafram out and used copper coat as a new gasket. the leak is gone. and now I just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope that the floats do not get stuck. PS if there is anybody that has a new ( or slightly used ) petcock for sale hit me up as Yamaha wants $135 for there new one

well considering I am over 15 hours away from home. I got the bike running with a pair of channel locks and a Phillips screwdriver and I spent less than 15 bucks on a new fuel line, tube of copper coat and two caps to seal the no longer in use vacuum hose!!!!! time for a cheep hotel and then on to Cameron Texas. then on to Tampico Mexico !!!!!

might want to get a inline shut off valve for a little added protection when you have it parked.

Get the rebuild kit from Chacal---about $25. Follow Fitz's instructions to the letter and you shall be happy. If, and only if, after doing the above it still leaks, as mine did, you might need to slightly lengthen the plunger. This is done by placing the diaphragm plunger in a 3/8 socket and "lightly" tapping it with a hammer to create a very small dimple and lengthen the plunger so it seals tightly. When I get to my home computer I will add the link to Fitz's instructions in case you can't find them.

Why not get with fintip (He's down by austin) to see if you could get the parts sent to him, and take care of the problem before going on to Mexico.
