    Mine is slowly coming back to life, the carbs were off a couple of weeks ago.

    Did you rebuild your clutch?
    I would like to run synthetic oil but know I would need a clutch and I have read here that it's a no no because of the starter.

    no i just pulled the cover because it needed some work.

    im owner number 4. owner number 3 bought it from number 2 after 2 banged it up. number 3 plugged a hole in the clutch cover with JBWeld. while it held for several years, it looked like crap...

    i had it off way back when and had it welded. unfortunately i got my $10 worth of weld job and it showed. when i decided to clean it up and put it back on the road (after 16 years of garage storage) i pulled it off and had it welded by a guy at work. while not perfect, a perfect cover would have looked out of place on a 28 year old bike...

    it looks like this now:
