I'm planning to buy a plexifairing 3 for my 1981 650 maxim. I'm assuming the my model is actually xj650g.

bikebandit.com has a plexi 3 listed only for the 1981 xj650lh (midnight maxim). Will this fit my bike? I always thought the midnights were the same as other maxims, just with a different finish.

    81XJ650 is an XJ650H.
Check the frame number on the steering neck to be sure against the XJ650 - 700 Frame Number list.

I have one of the Plexifairings on my 80XS11G which has a square headlight. Only put a couple hundred miles on it so far but I like it.

It has a 4pt mount that clamps to the handle bars and has hose clamps that clamp the lower mount to the forks below the upper or lower triple tree.

Yup, frame number is for xj650h. Thanks for the info.

Rode a little with my plexifairing tonight for the first time. It's nice. Tough to tell how effective because it's been unseasonably warm here in buffalo. I'm 5'9" and can barely see over the top. Might need to do some sanding to get it workable. Installation was like a puzzle box, but not horrible.

I think it's really cramping the control cables, or maybe PO set up the cables funky. Pretty sure the pressure is affecting my clutch. Turning the handlebar to far right actually pushed open the throttle until I adjusted. Definitely need to sort that out.
