I have a 1982 XJ750 Maxim and have always thought that the Positive battery cable was short... I saw a xj for sale in town and noticed that it had a pice of metal that attached to the cable and then to the battery. I was wondering if anyone knows of one for sale or can suply a template so I can make one myself....

Take the easy route, and avoid creating a failure point.
Take the battery cable you have to NAPA, or Carquest and have them make up a new longer cable for you.

You can make one quite easy with a 2" piece of copper pipe, flatten half & drill for the bolt & solder the wire in the open end.

I went for the new longer cable as the idea (plus past experience) of so much exposed live metal worried me too much.

Take your cable to your local sears, walmart, home depot, wherever sales lawn mowers and look in the parts section. They have battery cables of many lengths already made up.

You can also check car audio shops they can make up cables with gold ends and boots for that bling bling.

Make sure you get one that is the same gauge wire. Automotive battery cables are heaver gauge.
