Schooter gave me the idea to mock this up. On the side view, the orange stripe that goes around the yamaha logo is what i added. Also, the bracket that holds the rear pegs is also not orange right now. The mock up i did for the top of the tank took me a little longer. The circle is actually the Yamaha tuning forks but i couldnt do it in that much detail. Then i extended the lines from the tuning forks to incorporate more of that awesome orange on top of the tank.

Here is my big question. I dont want to do both the orange stripe around the yamaha emblem on the side and the emblem on the top of the tank. Which one do you guys think i should do? Is there anything else that you would change? Thanks for the feedback.

And i also plan on not changing the gray. Just want to get it painted the same gray base coat. Thanks for the feedback.

To be honest, that is actually pretty wicked cool. I would go for it. It looks like it's supposed to be that way

I disagree, the orange and black reeks of HD.

(the black is just all the normal black- - frame, seat, tires. . .)
It doesn't seem to flow, for me.

I like it, but I think it needs to follow the tank more, like a big tear drop

I'm not so hot on the color myself either, the orange reeks of HD (whew) I think that the shadowing idea is good though, I get two similar colors like two shades of blue or a slightly darker color on the under coat be it the same base or different. 15% Grey is the color chosen by nikon and canon for the most neutral dense color, medium green, and a medium flat red are also nearly neutral colors. You can get away with alot if the contrast color is a neutral. On another note, I love that seat, I'd like tpo find one like it or make one like it. Just keep it between the ditches, good luck padre.

That seat is a god send. The seat was actually called a king and queen seat and let me tell you that it is the closest you can come to a lazy without a foot rest.

I felt like the tear drop on the side of the tank might be a little too much because of how large is was. Thats why i designed that variant of the Yamaha logo that is in the first picture. I felt that the thinner orange lines would give the bike less of a plane look yet keep the nice contrast of the gray with the orange.

Alright you bunch of naysayers! I get it. Nobody likes the orange. lol. So if you dont like the orange then give me some color ideas. And actually, it is more of a bright red. The picture just makes it look orange.

Just to make sure there is no confusion with how the bike looks now, the last picture is the bikes current color.

I will also do a picture with the fork legs teh same color tomorrow so you can have your "squiz" Wizard.

This could cost alot, but my idea of a perfect paint job, especially on rounded shapes, is black cherry so dark, that the only place you see the color is where light shines on it, causing the color to move when you walk around the bike- - AND ghost flames done in chameleon paint that also change color, but a different way.

This will cause people to just stand there, staring at your paint, moving their heads a little to make the flames shift.

Not a fan of the orange either. Not sure what colors to recommend I am more of a traditionalist I guess. I painted my tank a gloss black with a single white stripe down the middle and will try to do a small amount of white accent here and there.

Will post a pic when I finish. I have about 7 coats of clear on it and hope this is the last one.

    Good luck,
    Rob

I messed around a little and think maybe Maroon or burgundy with a darker grey like gun powder or magnesium accent would be coolishous

I'm not a huge fan of orange but I def like the idea I think you should go for it, besides the color is for you so it doesn't really matter what I or we think of it if you like orange go orange!! this was my first shot on my max it turned out great but the paint I used couldn't take the gas so I redid it in just red I liked it but part of me always thought it should be two tone just to break up the color a bit, but thats just my .02c (the silver/blue was before I painted it but I'm not sure it was original?)

So here are the lowers painted the same color without the tear drop on the tank. The passenger peg bracket are also changed to orange. Second pic is how it is now just for easy comparison. Have your squiz wizard and tell me what yout think.
