When I took apart, cleaned and bench synced my carbs, they didn't seem stuck, however oil and gas in the crankcase shooting out breather tube inclines me to think they could be stuck. How do I know, or how can I tell physically if they are?

Is there anywhere I can find a diagram, of a carb...that labels, float, jet, butterfly and so on...so I can be better educated and work with what I need to

The link to the answer is already posted in your existing thread: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=43363.html

It's not "possibly" you have a float issue which we've already diagnosed. The link to how to set float levels is your answer.

Asking the same question in a new thread because you didn't like the answers you were getting in the previous one is counterproductive for all of us.

Get a service manual. And pay attention to the "content" of the links we give you. You already have your answers, get after fixing it.

Hi guys, I recently fitted a k and n air filter to my 1982 xj 750 maxim. The bike started running very poorly, I then put the old filter back in, and now when I start the bike, the revs shoot up to around 5000 in neutral, and they don't come down, until I turn off the ignition. The throttle cable bit where it meets the carbs is really loose, should it have some kind of retainer or spring on it? I'm not very mechanically minded so any advice would be most gratefully accepted, thanks, Jim.
