I Pulled the Carbs on my bike on Saturday and did a bench sync according to "http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=6366/highlight=sync+carbs.html"

I re-installed everything and had to wait a couple more days until i got new tires put on my rims before i could use the bike.

i had it blocked up on the centerstand and some 2x4's so it was tipped quite far forward.. and it started and seemed to run fine.. i didnt run it for long because its air cooled and id rather not overheat it. so today i got my wheels back and got them on the bike. I went to start it and it would only idle with the choke full on and not touching the throttle at all.. as soon as i touched the throttle it would stall. after about 3 miutes of messing around like that trying to get it to rev a bit it wouldnt start at all. i checked the carbs to make sure there was fuel in them. i checked for spark and it seemed allright. im stumped once again. I also pulled the air cleaner and used WD-40 as starting fluid. no go

i just re-read the process i used to sync them and im very sure i had them bang on. any ideas?

it ran before all of this but it wouldnt idle nicely.

i miss my bike all ready guys..

Thank you for any help you can give.

Oh yes I also used Q tips and opened each carb to do a simple clean. I checked the Main and Idle jets to make sure they were clear and basicly just swabbed the little bit of rust out of the float bowls.. they look surprisingly clean.

sounds to me like your out of gas
you can have some gas in the bowls but not enough to run
is the vacuum line on for the fuel valve....both ends
    try it on prime

did you mess around with the air-fuel mix screws at all? to ensure that they are close to recommended settings?

Thank you polok you were right. there was fuel in the tank but for some reason not enough to run the bike unless i switched it to prime and it fired right up.

i didnt mess with the air fuel mix screws since i havnt looked into it and i dont know where they are.

So the newest thing my bike has decided it likes to do to me is once its warm it idles up to around 3500 rpm. its kinda nice in town actually cause i can cruise without giving it any throttle. but its probably dangerous if i need to stop in a panic and dont press the clutch. the motor pushing me forwards is gonna make me stop much later.

    anybody heard of this before?
