I have an 82 XJ750 and have cleaned the carbs and have this problem. Bike starts, and idles perfectly and seems to run fairly well except in a pull or when giving it quite a bit of throttle. Bike seems to run good when the enrichment circuit is about halfway on but of course that makes it idle to fast. I know it has to be running lean because of the choke helping it. The bike only has 4500 miles on it and I did not take the mixture plugs out because I wanted to keep it looking totally stock. Question is, am I going to have to pull the plugs to get at the mixture or am I possibly missing a jet cleaning somewhere. Thanks guys, this is a great forum. I have another 82 750 that will run circles around this one for some reason.
