    hey there guys,

i want to install some powerfilter pods on my '82 maxim.
Did the research and they are telling to upgrade 4 steps in the jets, now my question is:
the jets i have now are size 112.5, but is 1 step up 113.5 or 114.5?

so do i need jet size 120.5 or 116.5?

i hope its understandable, thanks alot!

You haven’t done enough research. It is more than correct jetting to worry about. The air box provides a little bit of restriction in the flow but this is by design. The carb diaphragms need this exact pressure to correspond with your right wrist. Eliminating the air box alters this connection between carb and wrist.

each step in jet size is 2.5 , if you have 112.5 , 4 sizes bigger is 122.5.
keep your airbox, you may want it later. PODs look cool but you will get much less mileage and poor preformance

if YOU Really want to go down the rabbit hole of PODS ...You really will need to fabricate some type of bracket to support the back of the carbs ...the airbox and boots do this . Without these DO NOT rely strictly on the carb boots to support the weight of the carbs alone ( eventually the boots can crack and lead to leaks or worse carbs falling off while you ride . Also be aware you may have to pull carbs several times to change jets , you will have flat spots in the power band as it altered from the airbox not being there . There is no MAJIC formula , had a buddy running pods on his Suzuki 750 , My 84 Kawasaki 550 LTD could flat walk away from him ..He put stock airbox back in and he was amazed how much better it ran , he bought it with PODS ...he chucked them and did not look back . But this is your bike do as you wish some claim PODS be made to work...
