so i'm new here and finally pulled the bike i learned on out of storage been sitting for 6 or more years. surprisingly it's a lot cleaner then i remember. it is a 1981 Yamaha midnight maxim 650. (gold rims rock). I plan on turning it into a bobber. if that's what you wanna call it in the end. new idea come in my head everyday to i'm not ganna get into details and get straight to the pics and progress.

next sat. remove engine. then start to clean up frame. when we took off the rear swing arm the roller bearings that goes inside the swing arm on the right side was completely gone maybe 2 rollers left. so now i have to track that part down and find a new one. and probably wont be able to move forward on the frame until that is done.

funny the 6-1 is how i shift my bikes and the 2H-4L is how i shift my jeeps. xj with a stick would be like this

    135
    -n-
    24R

but i got and xj that's under construction right now. got so much planed for it that i'm not even ganna spend the hour to type it all out.

right now it has the inline 6, automatic behind that, and a np242 behind that. now axles as of now. working on getting hp dana 44 front and a ford 9 incher in the bac. i don't sleep to i'm always working on the jeep and the bike it to get my mind off the jeep. and to spend more money. ahah

spent a little more time on the bike last weekend mostly cleaning up the frame by grinding off the things i wont need and mocking up on how it will sit when it's done and i cut the frame. still got something things to cut off like the center stand and other things here is some more pics.

mock up of how it will sit in the end.

i have a question. where can i find a rear fender for this at. i'll be cuing it up so it's not like i has to be brand new or anything. i should probably order my handle bars and seat here soon. after i get the fame done and ready i'll get started tearing the engine down and rebuilding it. and if there is any where i can find some sweet after market parts for the engine at that would be nice. this is my first bike build/rebuild any information is helpful information. thanks and can't wait till this is done.
