aside from my engine being unsolvable by what I"ve found to be my 'wanna be' mechanic skills, does anyone know if missing those screens affect anything? I don't have them and the engine acts differnt everytime I remove and put back the carbs.
    Thanks

Most of the aftermarket carb kits have float valves with out those Beanie screens. I would install an in-line fuel filter and leave them off.

When I went through my carbs my new float needle seats didn't come with new screens and the old ones wouldn't come off without crushing them. My bike has been running fine without them.

Actually I thought Yamaha them selves decide to stop putting them in the later models with the logic of it's better to let the small piece of trash that it might of prevented from going into the engine from being stuck in the carb and their by reduceing one more thing that might affect the reliablity of the carbs. and reducing customer opion of their bikes. IE trash is more efficiently store at the bottom of the oil sump then in your carby. +1 on the inline filter (they are so cheap of an investmestment to protect all that work you did cleaning them.
