question about purpose of enrichment jet

as I understand it the bikes with carbs that have an enrichment well and it's accompanying jet at the bottom are supposed to be able to be while the enrichment is set "on/cold start" with minor to no fouling issues. Fouling like one might have if they say, rode away with a "real choke" left on.

My thought is that the purpose of the jet is to allow fuel to trickle into the well and be drawn up the straw under very low load but after a few/several seconds of running the well is depleted and the flow through that tiny jet does not allow it to refill quickly enough to keep up.
What I'm thinking is that since I ride year round, am constantly running fresh fuel through the system, not letting the carbs sit and varnish, take 'em at least partly apart once or twice a year to confirm that they're clean and yet STILL those little buggers keep clogging... I'd like to just drill in right out and just remember to close the enrichment circuit before riding off.

    Sanity check please.

I had a set of float bowls someone drilled out the jets for enrichment. I'll just say that with barely any chock it would flood.
I got another set of bowls and cleaned them up real nice and you can start with full choke and high idle works perfect. I would not mess with it. Keep it clean and if your not going to ride. Drain the carbs and leave the drain screws open untill your ready to ride again. Good luck

Do you have a fuel filter in-line?

yes. It appears in good shape but this one is almost two years old so I'm gonna spend another $4 to replace it soon whether it needs it or not. I have run an inline filter since the first overhaul in my hands from the PO. Always a cheap one mind you, anyone had any trouble with cheap filters passing particulate?
