Just picked up a new battery and charger but i'm not sure i have it on the right setting. The charger has 3 settings - 6v6a, 12v2a and 12v6a. I've had it on the 12v2a setting but nothing is registering on the voltmeter (i think thats wht it is) on the charger. I left it on over night and the battery did "gas" because there is some residue ontop and on the charging clips. I breifly turned it to 12v6a and I could actually hear the charge going into the battery and thought that wasnt good so turned it back to 12v2a. Just want to make sure i'm doing this right and dont (or havent already) screw(ed) up the battery/charger. Thanks for the help!

Your bike definately needs the charger set on 12 volts and 2 amps.

Something should register on the meter, which is PROBABLY an ampmeter. Normally a flat battery will have a higher charge rate which reduces as the battery voltage increases. On a fully charged battery, the ammeter won't show much, if anything.

Don't use the 6 amp range - that is too much for the battery.

Have you tested the battery to see what it is holding? fully charged should be 12.6 volts.
