Sooo, I was actin a fool the other day and decided that the head gasket was way over-torqued. I re-tightened the bolts to 16 pounds and tried to start my bike.

    Here's my issue:
I forgot to tighten one of them, and oil comes drooling out from under the bolt, all over the place. Now, does anybody see anything wrong with tightening the bolt, replacing the lost oil, and trying to start it?
I'm worried there would be oil in the cylinder now.

    Thanks,

    Mitch

    For those that were interested,

I followed the above procedure when the new battery came in and it rich for a moment, sooty black smoke, and then ran normally. No blue smoke, no oil. No leaks either.

    Now, onto that hard shifting...

Let me guess: the bolt was one of the upper ones on the RH side.

The reason oil came pouring out is because the washers on those bolts seal the oil galleries that feed the heads.

Oil shouldn't have gotten into the cylinder as a result.

    But don't do that again.

Right you are Fitz! The feed for the exhaust cam right?

Anyways do you have a good diagram of this engine? I'd really like to be able to visualize these internals better.

Sure. The factory book has a "lubrication schematic" that's fascinating.

PM me with your email address and I'll send you some scans.
