Ola. I'm working through the fault diagnose lists available here to try and determine why my new old bike won't fire.

The previous owner had said he just bought a new battery, so I didn't spend too much time on it - but happened to be in Wal-Mart last night checking to see what new batteries cost, and found the one recommended for the bike, according to Energizer, is a model called a 14A-2 - the current battery the owner had put in reads 12A-1.

Which battery is correct for a 1982 (Owner said 1984, but frame/Haynes says 1982) Maxim XJ650? Will they both work?

It's a differance of sealed (spendy- maintenance free) or conventional (cheapy - add acid & charge yourself).
