i need a new brake hub, really just a new spline, but a hub is cheap and just the spline is hard to find.

i have an 81 xj750, would a hub from a comparable year (81-83) off a 650 or 550 be compatible? just want to make sure.

figured i'de get that post up, and explain why, basically i lost the stay arm bolt off the hub, it broke? came loose? aliens zapped it up to their space ship? I didn't notice this, till i noticed it, haha. basically, the stay arm released, me, unaware, hit my brakes, just to have my brake pedal send my foot reeling back off the pedal, and my pedal was stuck up. after stopping, my brake linkage was wrapped around the axle almost a full circle, and my hub was not lined up where it should have been. when that stay arm let it go, and i hit those brakes, the hub just went spinning along with the wheel untill it just snapped my linkage. Scared the shit outa me when it happened, but glad it wasn't anything too serious and i was casually rolling up to a stop sign. looks like i'm only spending about 60 bucks to fix it, just need this question answered. O yeah i need a new hub also, instead of just linkage, because the spline for the brake is all twisted, literally.
