Hey all, I have an 81 Seca 750 currently and I was wondering if any parts are interchangeable with an 83 750. mostly I am curious about the 83 swing arm with disk brakes.

Alternatively would the tank off my 81 fit the 83? I am hoping for the 81 look but have a fair chance at a decent running 83.

If you are thinking about the 1983 Seca 750 that looks like this

Then I don't think a swingarm swap is doable (I could be wrong). That particular 750 is really an XJ900 with a 750 engine. The frame is quite a bit different and not many of the major components will interchange.

Shame it's not a drop in fit. That would illeviate the the rear drum brake issue with most xj's

I don't find a drum rear to be an issue at all. The trick is getting the shoes bedded in. Truing the drum is sometimes necessary.

The issue I mean is the delaminating of shoes on old brakes not there ability to stop the bike
This is in part to the bike lean on side stand and washing down the bike and the drum will hold water and being left wet will eventually start corrosion if left like many neglected bikes we find " behind the house" for years

    Umm.... That's an '84.

Delaminating Brakes ---Well THAT issue is easy to fix as well--- get a new pair of shoes from Len and install them. No more issue.

When talking specifically about the drum brakes of the 80's and 90's, I agree.
But go back a few years.....

You were clearly replying to the reply that you were replying to, and not some other reply.
