Hey guys, with all of yalls help I have me bike running, well kinda.

Here is the problem. I have cleaned and recleaned the carbs. Synced with a borrowed 4 gauge carb sync tool, and plug chopped. It will fire up with the first push of the button. It has to ideal in choke for a minute or two, the you can take the choke off. It ideals at 1200 rpm all day long. When I try to give it gas, it will have like a dead spot, and trys to die out. If you hit the choke half way it will rev up. If you take the choke back off you and rev up on it. The same thing will tring to drive it. You have to hit choke about half way to take off, then once running around 20mph it streightends out. I have noticed a slight "knock" will idealing that is coming from the slide area.

Is it possible the slides with the needle on the bottom are sticking within the slide bore? Also, if I take a soft face malet and tap the carb bowls, it will tend to run better. If I remember correctly, that is a sign of a sticking float. Is the correct?

Thanks in advance for any help yall can provide.

Could be you have a hole in one or more of the slider diaphragms preventing them from lifting when you give it gas.

Where can I find those? That is possible, I have had those top hats and sliders on and off a few times now. Also notice before going to work, The petcock will not run in the "run position" unless the vaccum line is off and the vaccumm stem blocked. I checked that cyclinder and it was flooded. Is it also possible I have a bad diaphram in the petcock? Even with the vaccum line off, I can not get it to rev right.

I guess it is in to another carb build off. :)

test your petcock, put a clear tube from petcock into a gas can, connect the vacuum line to the petcock & suck, flow should start, but you should not taste fuel.
the sliders could be sticking, see clunk test.

    12-Hundred is a little high for Idle. That's actually a bit "Off-Idle"

That you NEED to give it some Choke to get it to accelerate without hesitation indicates that you have the Pilot Mixture Screws set-up too LEAN.

Read the Plugs often until you get your situation right.
Lower the Idle Adjustment and try to obtain an Idle of 1,050 (Max)
Add some Richness to the Pilot Mixtures until you have Plugs that look like they spent a week at the beach.

    Dark Tan or Light Brown.

That you have to tap on the Carbs to make a corrective measure could mean that you have Diaphragm Pistons Sticking.

Scrub the Diaphragm Piston Bores clean with a small section of ScotchBrite Pad (Gray~Medium).
Get the Bores as clean as you can.

    (Polish them for performance tuning)

Thanks for the help guys. I didnt get to check everything today, it has been raining and I work nights. I did check the "clunk" test. There isnt a clunk. Will take the top hats off, check the diaphrams, and clean the bores. Will give updates this weekend.

Ok, part of my problem was 3 sticking slide pistions. Clean and polished all four bores. Also spent most of the day with it on its center stand and done some plug reading. I now have all four plugs a dark tan. Now is a new issue. It will run all day long reving up with no problems. Take it off its center stand, put it in gear and it doesn't want to take off. It will bog down, take it out of gear and the it is ok.

I did notice that two of the spark plug boots is "leaking". If I touch it, it will knock the hell out of me. Would this be the cause of it not wanting to pull in gear?
