    Hey all,

Quickie question: In disassembling my carbs: all four had good pilot screws (fine thread, brass), good springs and new-looking washers... but NONE of them had o-rings underneath!!

Rather than wait for a parts order, I'd like to try to source some locally; is the o-ring the same size as washer?

    TIA,
    Duncan

Why do you say that, vash? Buna-N (the common black o-ring material) is rated for petro fuel use; and I obviously won't be running fuels that contain ethanol. Viton is for high-temp use, if my pilot screw ass'y is getting hot enough to melt nitrile (>250F) I've probably got other problems...

Polock, are you sure, and/or can anyone confirm 003? My local fastener supply sells 100-count bags - If I end up grabbing them, I'll offer the rest to members here, for the price of a stamp.

with all the problems with carbs I have, I cannot imagine purchasing o-rings that are not tried and true ...... Yamaha or Chacal or a source similar.

Sounds like you have an extensive o-ring assortment. Would you happen to have the specs on the fuel rail and throttle shaft O-rings?

you need 2 #11 o-ings per seal, but it ain't that easy. the 2 o-rings are just a hair wider than the grove for the c-clip likes so you have to squeeze it in, no problem but the 30 year old fiber washer under the c-clip doesn't like abuse and will probably crack, i made aluminum ones.
you have to use silicone grease on them and make sure they don't hold the butterfly open, their tight and there's no doubt about the seal.
