I have been looking at new tires for the XJ650. Has anyone put radials on one, and how did they do. I am concerned about this because the factory was a bias tire, and stronger on the side wall. Worried about the weight.

Not sure if they're radials (or what the difference is) but Spitfire S11's are pretty popular around here. Along with Dunlop 40-somethings.

    I got the S11's personally.

The S11'S are bias ply tires. The tread design looks good though. I am hopeing to find a 130/80/16 for the rear for lowering. Have not found one except for the radial. Thus the question.

I went through the same kind of thinking. I asked for suggestions and got some excellent ones. I'm not really into challenging turns when the penalty for underthinking what is reality is um... not good. I also wanted good longevity so I don't have to replace them often.

My decision came to a balance of good tire longevity and excellent traction. I chose Dunlop D404 for mine. Others here wil;l have equally good suggestions, maybe better.
