    Raleigh EuroBike

Gas up your Guzzi, buff up the Beemer, drag out your Ducati, putt on down with your Piaggio, hustle over on your Husky, be seen on your Bimota.... You get it.

Nortons, Montesas, Cagivas, Urals, Mondials, Lambrettas, BSAs, Vincents, Bultacos, Heskeths, MV Agustas, Rotaxes, Horexs, Munchs, DKWs, Eglis, Vespas, Vyruses (Vyri?), whatever.

If it's European, has two wheels (or three given a sidecar) ride it on down. Generally this is a gathering and photo op of European motorcycles and Scooters.

So strap a folding chair, some wax and rags on the bike to shine while you swap tales and bench race. Plan to get there by 11 AM. Arrivals before that can gather for a breakfast over at Big Ed's Restaurant. Tir na nOg (Irish) is just across the street and a multitude of other eateries are nearby, within walking distance.

Of course American and Oriental bikes are also welcome, just park them away from the Eurotrash so the bike doesn't get infected. They might not want to start afterwards out of jealousy. Besides it makes for better group photos.

Sounds like another fun day. I'll have to clean the mud off my Bultaco and bring it.

Is this just an impromptu thing or something sanctioned by the City of Raleigh? I had a tough time finding anything about it other than forum-type postings.

I don't know if it's sanctioned by the city or not. But it's on Downtown Raleigh.com and bike meetup.com
    http://www.meetup.com/jbbchd/calendar/12669002/
It's not a sponsored show so I don't think it's that type of show, where you see all this flashy bikes and tents everywhere. i think it; more of a local meet than a sanctioned event, but I could be wrong.

That stinks Mark. And what's worse. I don't have my digital camera for this weekend. You know how I love posting photos. Maybe next time. I just joined Jbb at the klink above, they seem to orginize rides EVERY weekend. So I think that's really cool.

    No,

I didn't go. For some reason I had it in my mind that it was Sunday. Anyway I went with a friend to Waxhaw, NC for an antique tool show he wanted to attend.

Turned into a much bigger adventure than we counted on. His motorcycle broke down and a planned 9 hour trip turned into 15. We were able to get it fixed and back on the road and get back to Raleigh. But what a day. Oh well, better than being at work I guess.

I have had trips like that Roger, next time we meet remind me to tell you about the trip I took to pick up my XS1100. Bottom line is it cost me $2500+ to get a $1200 bike.

Haha, I want to hear that story too.

I went to the show, it was amazing. there where over 200 bikes out there. lots and lots of moto guzzi's (funny I never saw one riding on the road but there were plenty at the show)
The atmosphere was great, cool people all around, great restaurants and pubs around. All in all, I had a great time. Sorry for not having photos. I can't wait for the next show. Oh and did I mentioned the weather was GREAT?

Today i rode into Virginia, cause the local Cafe in Oxford had shut down and i was craving a slurpee. soooo... since there arent any 7-11's in NC (except in Greeville) I rode all the way to VA and stopped at some nice little towns like Boydton and Clarksville. Rode for a good 4p hours or so.

We need to plan a breakfast then ride event and I'll tell the story. My work load should go down in a few weeks. Any good mom and pop places to eat in your area?

You mena a good ol greasy spoon? Yes, there is the Wilton Grill right off hwy 96 and hwy 56. from there we could ride further north towards Virgilina onto Clarksville like I did, it's only 35 miles form the Wilton grill.

let's go ahead and start a new thread and make up a date and rain date just in case.

I can't in MID may I have my wife's Bday, anniversary, and mothers day that weekend. But certainly I can make time in May. I'm gonna try to take some photos of the route and spots to hit soon in the next couple of weeks, so it would encourage others to come.

You gotta try their 3 eggs over medium with 5 strips of bacon, bicuit with gravy and pancakes, you may need to pay the doctor a visit after that.

    FYI,
Coming up in May is the Classic Motorcyle Show on May 1 at the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. It is a fun day and the Museum is always free to visit. Very impressive.
The weekend of May 15 is the first Antique Club of America National Rally in Denton, NC. There will be hundreds of vintage and antique motorcycles there.
Tying either of these events to a ride seems like a no-brainer. Lots of fun to be had in May! I can supply particulars if anyone is interested.
