Getting ready to pull the rear tire off for the first time to get it replaced. Are there any gaskets or anything else I should be prepared for or think of ahead of time? I didn't know if there was anything after I lift the tire off the shaft drive. I am planning on checking the brakes while I have it off

    Thanks

Take pictures so you know what goes where upon reassembly.

Have some form of compressed air to blow out the brake dust (DON'T breathe that stuff in!)

If the spline (that the wheel sits in) isn't greased fairly well after you take the wheel off. Lube it up with some good gear grease.

DO NOT, I repeat - DO NOT blow out the brake dust with compressed air!!!

That sends the asbestos particles FLYING and AIRBORNE, and breathable.

Get some CRC brakleen or the like and spray them down with that. Then the particles will stay in the liquid. But do it outside where the dirt/etc can be hosed away as once it dries, what you have is still a pile of brake dust.

Don't force anything, everything comes real easy if it's apart right.

Be patient with getting the week off the final drive- I got super frustrated the first time but then finally realized if I just kept wigglin' it, that it would come off slowly but surely :)
