I was wondering if its possible to rebuild the rear shocks on the XJ-750K. I am having a local bike shop do the forks and was thinking that if it doesn't cost a whole lot, I could have them do the rear shocks too.

    Thanks!

Most people just replace the rear ones :)

Stock XJ shocks are non-rebuildable units unfortunately. Replacement is the only option.

Thanks guys. Where is a good place to buy them new? (cheap) We already dropped $1,200 on this bike so far, we can't afford $450 on new shocks.

A couple of people have bought the replacements from JC Whitney and have been happy with them.

Ebay is another popular choice - you can get a set of used ones cheap. Another thing I've heard of is using 12.5" Harley shocks -- lots of people take the stock shocks off their new bike to use aftermarket units, then sell them on Ebay. The only thing is you'll have to replace the bushings in the eyes, as Yamaha and Harley use different mounting stud sizes.
