Hey folks...most all the gold has worn off my tank emblems, any solution to redo or paint them? What colors might look good for the cherry red xj650?

I'm getting ready to do my wife's and was planning on painting them a flat black. Then getting a silver leaf pen from Lowes and doing the raised bits with that. When all that was done, I was going to seal and protect it with a couple coats of clear.

Sounds like a plan...I wonder if those rattle can gold(shiny)paints actually look like real gold?

I'm going to be doing mine shortly and I'm thinking about trying the gold or silver leaf foil from a craft store. You rub it on like a temporary tatoo, only it's supposed to be permanent, although a little fragile. It's very thin. As long as the surface is smooth, it should rub onto it nice and clean. Then a little clear coat to seal. If I get to it soon enough, I'll post some pics.
