I'm currently trying to remove my Atari and upgrade to Mikesxs gauges. I've got the headlight, brakelight, and taillight all bypassed, rewired for all of my indicator lights, and got the tach rewired. Now there is no power when I turn the key. No start, no lights, can't even get lights working with the key in PARK. Is there a magic wire that I haven't bypassed yet? I'm staring at the diagram in the Haynes but I can't find a major power wire that goes through the computer, only indicators that I'm not going to use (fuel, battery sensor, etc). As far as the two big plugs with 6 and 9 pins, I cut those off the main harness to make it easier to pick the few wires out that I wanted, so it would be tough to just plug it back in.

is anything going in/out if the ignition switch? just start following voltage and see where it gets lost.
is the battery negative hooked to the frame ?

Battery was never disconnected, should be fine back there. Bike ran great just minutes before unplugging the Atari. Guess I'll have to break out the multimeter and do some chasing. Battery to fuse, fuse to key, key back to fuses...

DISREGARD! It seems I popped the 3-prong connector that runs to the key switch. Put it back together, lights right up! Unfortunately, now the bike doesn't want to start, I'm thinking the cool temperatures (46F) may be to blame.

Gauges look great, thanks to some help from these forums the wiring seems spot on. Now just gotta get on the road.

Not yet. When I pull it out tomorrow I will take one. That way, I can brag about having an XJ with .2 miles on it!

    Stupid work tonight...

The bikes had .2 miles on it! Or just new gauges...then again, only had 15,600 original miles before I pulled the Atari. However, tach suddenly quit working and my oil light stays on, even though it has plenty of fresh oil. Could the oil sensor be bad? Not liking the semi-syn oil? Maybe I tapped the wrong power? As for the tach, it doesn't "boot up" so it must be the main power line.
