Tried looking in previous topics using the search feature... Nothing...

I'm trying to clean and repack unsealed bearings on front and rear wheels but I need to remove oil seals in the hub to be able to reach the bearings.

I know sealed bearings cannot be cleaned but I'm talking about hard black rubber seal next to unsealed bearings. Is it possible to remove them without damaging and/or replacing them new?

    If so, how?

    Thanks.

It is possible but requires a steady hand and great care. I've used a small jewelers screwdriver and a pencil as a lever. Worked the seal all the way around untill I had it slip out. Takes a little finess but it can be done, just don't use huge amounts of force and/or a hammer!

Thanks Robert, I will try doing that if I decide to go ahead and take the plunge.
