Anyone have any idea what the best paint remover iwould be that I could use to remove paint from my plastic side covers that won't damage the covers.I want to remove the ugly green and paint them the original red. Also I have some small hairline cracks in one of my covers and my front fender what is best to use to fix these?I was thinking of using fiberglass mesh. Also any ideas what I can use to replace some broken pegs on the covers?I want to retain the original look on the outside.

Sorry for the mutiple questions under one heading but as I type questions come to mind.

    Thanks James

If you got the time just hold out for a set to show on ebay or run a "want" ad here. Oughta pickup something you can work with that has all the pegs. As far as stripping the covers I don't think it's a good idea since they are polyester resin type un less you have something different just sand them , prime them with red or grey and paint a light coat and let it dry. some of these new paints are pretty hot and will react with the polyester if you get too much on at first spraying. Duplicolor is a hot one . several light coats with a hard dry inbetween each. Color sand if nescessary between coats. After three coats then you can put on a heavy one quickly since it will flash pretty quick. If it looks good then use an acrylic enamel clearcoat. The laquer is pretty hot and might lift the color. Good luck.

    For the Fender:
    Use a Fiberglass Kit

    Cracks in covers:
Drill a small hole at the end of the crack to make the srack stop spreading.
Go to an AutoBody Supply Warehouse and get a stick of PlastiWeld.
Grind the crack so that it becomes a "Vee" ... Heat the PlastiWeld according to Instructions and let it flow onto the Vee and harden.
    Sand.
    Prime.
    Paint, ... etc.
