I've got an '85 Maxim 700 and I'm tired of looking at those retro megaphone mufflers that point right at the bottom of my saddle bags. I'm thinking about ordering the universal fit turnout style mufflers from the J&P metric cruiser catalog. Just wondering if once I replace the mufflers will I need to re-jet the carbs or can I get by with the factory jets and still be ok?

Best answer is maybe. It all depends on the new mufflers flow characteristics compared to the OEM ones, and that's one of the few things that the internet can't do yet. :D
