About a month ago....I bought my 1982 XJ 750J Maxim. It was in good shape all round with the exception that it had sat for 10yrs. So naturally, the carbs where gummed up something horrible and the oil was trashed. Pulled the carbs and drained the oil. Cleaned the carbs after reading a piece on here about boiling the carbs in lemon juice! YES...lemon juice. OMG....worked fantastic....and then changed oil. The bike is so beautiful now....I just returned from a 200 mile road trip and I can't stop smiling. lol I named the bike Sparky. She bit me the first time I fired her up! Anywho and anyhow....I want to thank all the folks for all the posts on carbs. Could not have done it without YOU! I am not mechanically inclined....and this was my first time taking any bike apart....it was much easier than even I was told.

As a note to anyone out there who doesn't know....DO NOT BOIL RUBBER PARTS!!! Was my only mistake. lol
