I saw something on this recently and I can't seem to find it. In any case this mirror has left hand threads and I need to heli coil the right hand control where it goes in. Has anyone been successful at figuring thread size/ pitch and who would sell a lot for this?
    Please let me know.

    Thanks
    MN

The thread I started is as per below link (stripped right hand mirror / throttle side). What I think I know so far (please correct if I'm wrong):

    1) Thread is M10 x 1.25
    2) Confirm if it's left or right hand thread. People told me that it's left hand thread but when I checked mine, it's righthand/regular threaded (phew - now I don't have to find left hand helicoils)
    3) You might have to buy the fix a thread kit. I've learnt that helicoils come with their own STI taps. Someone said you can go next size up, i.e. M12, but it hasn't worked for me. (http://www.noblefix.com/helicoil/HeliCoil-STI-Tap.html) or (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Helicoil-5543-10-Thread-Repair-Kit-M10-x-1.25/16487907)
    4) the thread below, there is a guy selling brake lever bodies if you don't want to helicoil - but you'll have to re-bleed brakes.
    5) Fix a thread kit is same price as labour from a shop. with the right kit and STI tap, it's quiet easy to do. I've actually repaired a blown fuse plug with a kit and it's own tap and was very easy to do.

I'm going to try it this weekend.

you could remove the left mirror and test size at with a nut to confirm sizes.
m8 = 8mm diameter 1.25 is threads per mm so you would have 5 threads in 4mm length

The stock mirrors are M10x1.25. It's strange that yours are a different size. Are both sides the same?
