: :x I need a right side engine cover for a 1982 650 Seca-this is a non yics engine. According to what I looked at the part numbers are different for a 650J and a 650RJ, I dont know if this because of the "YICS" that is stamped into that case cover or if its because the covers are actually different.
If its cheap enough I could care less if it says YICS or not, I just need it in good condition (not broke'warped or cracked) If its scuffy but good that'll be fine
and of course actually fit. Im checking here before I go to fleabay.
and on a side note- I think it's kinda dumb that you cant buy Kroil at a parts store or something like you can PB

Got one - all mine say YICS, except for this chrome pair of aftermarket covers that I'd sell for $25 for both. They are finned and don't even say Yamaha. I'll post up pics and prices in this thread when I can.

chrome is realy cool but my bike is blacked out with white tank, side covers, etc. engine is satin black, chrome may be a tad off. Killer deal though.
I dont care if it says YICS, i doubt anyone will ever notice it once its blacked out to match. I thought one should fit the other, the lower cases are they same aren't they? just the heads are different?
And from what I was looking at a moment ago on the bike, I believe left or right makes no difference, or so it appears.
either way if you think it'll work pm me

Left and right ARE different. I was shipped a 900 left cap when I bought a right one. They may bolt-up, but "YAMAHA" would be upsidown and the contour might be off.

You can fill the YICS void with Bondo or JB-weld, smooth it, add paint . . .

It says "Not for Retail Sale" right on the can. It's industrial strength. That being said, one of the national hardware chains, ACE or ACO, does carry it. My daughter's boyfriend works there, but I don't remember which one it is; I think it's ACO.

Oh, and more than the heads are different, YICS-to-pre YICS. The YICS "chamber" is located in the top of the cylinder casting, not the head. The lower cases are essentially the same though.

Kanolabs is in Tennessee, IIRC; you'll have it in 2~3 days.

Check with moellear, he's got some non-YICS engine covers for sale, but I'm not sure which ones (clutch cover, oil cover, etc.).
