While riding today my clutch cable broke at the hand lever in the middle of rush hour.
After pushing it out of traffic I remembered a thread on using vise grips to actuate the clutch lever as a "field expedient repair".
keeping a well stocked tool bag on the bike I had a pair of small vise grips handy.
The trick worked and got me home no problem.
At home I tried to repair the cable. Made a cable end with a set screw to hold the cable on but the cable was about 1/2" too short to work anymore.
I have a motion pro 11-0686 cable on the way and will be installing it this weekend.

Get two. Run the other alongside the active cable, so you have a spare ready to go should you ever need it (which you never will because you have a spare ready to go). ,
