Rode my XJ750 for first real ride today, wooooohooo!!!

Hey everyone,

All i can say is that its hard to take this smile off of my face.
Today i took my 1983 XJ750 Midnight Maxim out for my first ride on it. When i got it the carbs needed work and it needed new brakes and tires (almost bald), needless to say i didn't take it farther than the end of the street in that condition. I got it back from the shop today with all of the above performed and WOW! I am so happy. I had a Honda CX500 before and its like night and day. I can't wait to rack up some miles on this puppy. I can now ride on the freeway and keep up with everyone! Sorry if im gushing, i just have to say, i love this machine, am i easily impressed?

What made you go to a shop? The tires are one thing, but you could have done the brakes and saved yourself ~$100 (assuming 1 hour labour).

Well i figured since they were already taking off the back and front wheel why not have them do the brakes? I mean the front one is pretty easy and the back is too but i figure i'd let them secure the wheel. Turns out i didnt even need new brakes, just an adjustment. Today i fixed my right rear turn signal stock because the PO had taped it back together but didnt realize that it needed a good connection throughout for ground. I was thinking for the longest time i had a bad flasher unit but then the other side would blink. I opened it up, had the duh moment and now it's flashing away.
