Hey I found a 10year abandon 82 xj 550... As you would figure it has a rusty gas tank... I first use electrolisys (dont know how to spell that so we will move on).. It did a pretty good job but not good enough...Does anyone out there know of a good way to derust the tank and keep it nice....Any advice would be great..Thanks

I used the Por15 kit to clean and coat a rusted tank that started leaking, Followed the directions and worked like a charm.

If you use something acid based(Like vinegar) it will flash rust if you don't coat it quickly. Let the vinegar sit in the tank (full) for 24 hours rinse well dry with hair dryer or heat gun and spray some foaming oil in the tank to coat the inside. Your first tank of gas may smoke a bit. (remove your petcock and sending unit before cleaning)

I personaly like the results from the Por15 others have had bad results with it.

I used Eastwood's cleaner and coating. No issues. Just don't spill the etching solution on your driveway
