Look what followed me home tonight!

1992 K75S, 17,000 on the clock, good tires, bags, all that good stuff.

Don't worry boys, the XJ is still in the stable! I hope to be able to keep them both. Might even make it possible for me to take the XJ down for a while for some much needed and deserved TLC...

Well done Hucker! Like you I have a BMW K engined bike, mine is an LT and I also have a Maxim. Don't plan to ever get rid of either one. Spend a couple weeks on the Beemer then climb on the Maxim! You will feel like you just climbed aboard a very powerful skateboard. It will feel very small.

A good forum for your K Bike is www.bmwlt.com There are sub forums for the LT, other K bikes R models etc.

You haven't gotten away from pita valve adjustments. The biggest difference is you replace the entire bucket instead of a shim sitting on top of a bucket. This requires removing the cams to swap them out! Nice feature huh?

    Again, congrats!

Oh yeah. Altus is definitely right about the price of genuine BMW stuff. An oil filter is $26, a quart of genuine "BMW" oil is $10, replacement throttle cables $150 for the set of two, a new AFTERMARKET shock is $1400.00 (one thousand four hundred dollars). The good news(?) is you only need one!

I just purchased the fluids to change the engine oil, radiator fluid, and final drive and gearbox fluids. Castrol 20W50 4T oil, WIX oil filter, Prestone no silicates antifreeze, and a quart of Royal Purple synthetic gear oil for the final drive and gear box. Cost for aftermarket fluids? $65.00. If using BMW fluids/filters cost would have been $156. 'Nuff said!

    LOL Chacal- Ain't it though?

As for the rest of that good stuff like expensive parts, fliuds, and the oft lamented dry final drive shaft splines- whatchagonnado? Hell, being on this forum for the past couple years has shown me I'm far more capable than I ever thought when it comes to doing things myself. She's in good hands. Besides, I already play the "This little thing costs HOW MUCH" game every time I perform service on my 120K miles 2000 Caddy Seville!

Snap!!! I have the same bike as well as the xj700. It's the k75s my government is demanding I get rid of though I have to admit it's the wrong bike for the roads around here.

Thanks for the tips on forums boys! I already love ADVrider, I go by XJRetrofighter on there. The other one, BMWits, I had not heard of before but it looks really helpful, lots of K75 topics on there.

NIce to know there are other XJ boys like me who are feelin' the Bimmers!

Backfire Moto? I'll be there- but next month! I am leaving tomorrow afternoon for Phoenix for a few days for a wedding. I'll miss my little bluebird while I'm gone!

Here's a few more glamour shots:

I LOVE this cockpit! Gear indicator, oil, temp, battery, and fuel guages, and a working CLOCK? Such luxury! :)

She's not perfect though, but that's ok, I love 'er anyway.

This seat is getting some special treatment soon. Some of you may remember a thread a while back detailing how I did my XJ seat over. Stay tuned..

I bought my 92' k75s with 52000 on the clock and his and her's matching helmets, bought a comfy saddle and Clymer workshop manuel for £1280.00.
I've not run the bike since I laid her down 6 months ago, little short Irish legs and a steep camber on the road, but I fitted the charged up battery yesterday and she fired up immediatly first time. Pity she has to go.

Ahem! I regret to inform you that you have committed a BMW Motorrad faux pas. Bimmers are cages, you know, the 4 wheel variety. Beemers are the 2 wheel design!
